With the cancellation of Maam Cross show, the expected big entry for Athenry did not materialise. It was disappointing, for instance, that only one yearling colt and three two year old fillies were forward. No doubt the wild and blustery conditions, and the counter attraction of the Galway-Kilkenny Senior Hurling match did not help. Hopefully the show will recover its popularity in future years. A big ‘Thank You’ to Ruth Rodgers for ironing out the results for us below.
Louisburgh Horse Show have also published the results of their Connemara classes from their show of the 26th. We have reproduced them below as they appear on the show’s website, louisburghhorseshow.ie. Robbie Fallon, of Cashel Bay Stud, was a judge on the day, and makes mention on his site of how impressed he was with the general organisation and standard on display: “Run extremely well by Tommy Bennett’s committee, and excellently marshalled by our Ring Steward Joe, Louisburgh saw some big classes this year … the show in general displayed good quality, well produced ponies. The breeders present deserve all due credit for turning out their ponies to such a commendable standard.”
