The cup for the new 4-6 year-old stallion class; The Joe Fallon Memorial Cup. Sponsored by Robbie & Barbara Fallon, Cashelbay Connemara Pony Stud. This class, as well as the Connemara mare from 7-11 years old (with or without foal at foot) class - Kindly Sponsored by Martin Cooke of Equine Solutions - are notable developments to this year's schedule.
With a new In-Hand ring, and amidst a drive to improve and build the show, the organisers of the Athenry show are bringing forward some new classes and qualifiers – many with very generous prize funds. The Connemara, Pony, and WH sections of the schedule are posted here.
Reg Connemara Section
- Class 1: Gelding 3 year old and over.
- Class 2: Connemara yearling, filly.
- Class 3: Yearling Colt or gelding.
- Class 4: Connemara two-year-old filly.
- Class 5: Qualifier for the Connemara Two & Three year-old Filly & Mare of the Future All-Ireland Championship
Prize Money: 1st €400, 2nd €250, 3rd €150, 4th €100, 5th €50, 6th €50.
Final Ballinasloe Show Saturday 1st October 2011
- Class 6: Connemara two year old colt or gelding
- Class 7: Connemara mare three year old
- Class 8: Connemara three year old colt or gelding
- Junior Champion Pony of the Show (drawn from Classes 1-8)
- Class 9: Connemara 4-6 year old Stallion

Pony Section
Stallions in M&M Classes and Working Hunter Classes must have a letter of permission from the I.P.S and the rider must be 14yr old before the 1st Jan 2011
Lead Rein
- Class 59: Open Show Hunter Lead Rein.
Ponies 123cm and under, Rider under 8 years on 1st of January 2011.
- Class 60: Family Pony Lead Rein.
Pony mare or gelding not exceeding 138cms. Rider under 10 years on 1st of January 2011.
1st & 2nd prize winners in class 59 not eligible to compete in this class.

Drawn from 1st & 2nd prize winners in Classes 67, 83, 84 & Highest Placed Connemara in Classes 64, 65, 80, 81 (in ring 5 after class 81).
- Class 68: Show Hunter 158cms Open and Novice
Rider under 25 years on 1st January 2011.
- Class 69: Ridden Show Pony 128cms to 148cm
To be ridden by child of the correct age on 1st January 2011 for size of pony.
- Champion Starter Stakes Pony
Drawn from Classes 66, 75 & 76 ( in ring 5 after 73)
- Class 70: Shown In-hand Pony not exceeding 128cms, filly or gelding.
- Class 71: Shown In-hand Pony not exceeding 138cms. filly or gelding.
- Class 72: Shown In-hand Pony not exceeding 148cms. filly or gelding.

Working Hunter Ponies
To be run under IPS rules.
- Class 73: Open Working Hunter lead rein Pony not exceeding 123cms.
Rider under 8 years on 1st of January 2011.
- Class 74: Open Cradle stakes Working Hunter Pony not exceeding 123cms.
Rider under 11 years on 1st of January 2011.
- Class 75: Novice starter stakes Working Hunter Pony not exceeding 133cms.
Rider under 12 years on 1st of January 2011.
- Class 76: Open starter stakes Working Hunter Pony not exceeding 133cms.
Rider under 12 years on 1st of January 2011.
- Class 77: Open & Novice 133cms Working Hunter Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over.
Rider under 14 years on 1st January 2011. Novice Ponies to jump first.
- Class 78: Open & Novice 143cms Working Hunter Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over.

Not exceeding 138cm for ponies 4 years old and over (includes Connemara)

Exceeding 138cm for ponies 4 years old and over (includes Connemara’s)
- Class 82: Open & Novice 158cms Working Hunter Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over.
Rider under 25 years on 1st January 2010. Novice Ponies to jump first.
- Class 83: Clifden High Performance Connemara 2011
Prize Fund at Final: €3000
- Qualifier for pure bred Connemara’s 4yr old and over registered with the CPBS Adult Stud book. This class will be marked using I.P.S marking system with 8-10 fences being marked out of 10 for each jumping effort, 20 marks for way of going and a short flat phase showing walk, trot, canter, and gallop.
- Confirmation, manners, movement, performance and type will also be judged in the second phase.
- Three ponies to qualify at each of six venues and a fourth if judge decides standard high enough. Course height will range from 95cm to 110cm
- Stallions must have a letter of permission from I.P.S to compete and be ridden by a rider 14yrs or older on the 1st Jan 2011
- Qualifying place will move down if a pony has already qualified.
- No bitless or gag bits allowed and boots must be removed for the second phase.
- Qualifier for International Connemara Performance Final, Oughterard, Saturday 27th August, 2011.
For Working Hunter under 16 and over 16 will be awarded from classes 80 & 81.
For Ridden Stallion over 14 will be awarded from class 83.
