Ballyconneely Results; Midland’s Show Launched

Seamus Hynds with Vincent Cleary M.D. of Glenisk Organic Dairy Products and the All Ireland Broodmare Galway Crystal Trophy.

The upcoming Midlands Connemara Pony Breeders Group Show was officially launched at Catstone Lodge, Ballymore, Co. Westmeath on Friday last, to announce details of their 7th Annual show at Annaharvey Farm on July 25th.

In attendance were such luminaries as Mary O’Rourke T.D., Vincent Cleary M.D. of Glenisk Organic Dairy Products, John Moran (Chairman), David Miller (Hon President), Eddie Fleming (Former Chairman), Sean Dunne (Vice Chairman), and Jerry Mahon (Former Chairman).

The organisers of the Midlands Show wished to express their appreciation to all the sponsors, helpers, owners, and breeders who have in some way contributed towards the group. Following the success of the Midlands International Connemara Pony Conference last April, breeders from England, France, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland have expressed an interest in attending the show. Qualifiers have taken place at shows all over Ireland and this unique Championship brings together in one ring many of Ireland’s elite Connemara breeding stock.

The group are also delighted to welcome the Glenisk Organic Dairy Products company in Killegh, Co. Offaly as the official sponsor of the All Ireland Broodmare Championship. The winner of that competition will receive the Lady de Vesci Perpetual Cup and the Glenisk Galway Crystal Trophy. Chairman John Moran from Tubber, Co. Offaly announced it as the “feature class” of the show.

The Group were also delighted to welcome Mr.Noel Noonan of Manor Connemara Ponies in Clifden as overall Show sponsor. The Supreme Championship and the Open Stallion class both carry a prize fund of €500 and in addition there will be 23 In-Hand classes and 9 Performance Classes. The Performance section features the Sarah Miller Future Performance Championship, the Ridden classes (sponsored by Jim Derwin Bloodstock Agent), and includes a warm up trial for the Working Hunter Performance Championship at the R.D.S.
