Best Wishes to All in Belgium!

Best of luck to Ballyowen Maybelle Molly and Sillogue Darkie (both sponsored by the CPBS) in the European Showjumping Championships in Moorselle in Belgium this weekend. Good luck also to Boston Burgler, a member of the Irish Eventing team. (Boston Burgler had 189 sjai points on him when he started eventing, and is now a 10yr old campaigned by Anne Moloney, owned by the Moloney family, bred in Co.Clare by Kieran Mullins.)

SILLOGUE DARKIE. G16356. 1996.
Sire: Ard Talisman. S897.
Dam: Coillchru Esmerelda. M7896.
Breeder/Owner: Eamonn Briscoe.
Rider: Michael Duffy.

Sillogue Darkie has represented Ireland individually and on teams in Belgium, Italy, France, England, Holland and Germany. Last year he won the Premier pony league with Jessica Burke, and is leading the league this year with Michael Duffy. He has qualified for the 148A class at the RDS yet again, as well as the European Pony Championships.

BALLYOWEN MAYBELL MOLLY. M16356. 2002.
Sire: Monaghanstown Fred. S922.
Dam: Ballyowen Bonny Bell. M12139.
Breeder: John and Jenny Richardson.
Owner: Anthony McCormack.
Rider: Kelly Allen.

Ballyowen Maybell Molly upgraded to A this year, and won the 6/7yr old Championship at Fontainebleu. She qualified for the 148A class at the RDS, and the Starfinder at Banteer.

Best of luck to all the Connemaras, nearly 20 in all, that are jumping in Moorselle making the Connemara’s the most conspicuous breed at the Championships.

Thanks again to Ann Reade for the above details.

  1. Hi

I write about the showjumping connemaras for the danish society. You write nearly 20 connemaras at the EC, but I have only been able to identify 12. They are Isbiratel de Conquet, Boston Burgler, Jolie Jumper, Italic des Landes, Some Man For One Man, Lavalley Prince, Lexus Justice, Idefix du Villon, Clogherboy Mirah, Sillogue Darkie, Ballyowen Maybelle Molly, Joyau D’Argent. Could you please send me the names of the ponies I have missed?

Hi Cecilie – thanks for your comment, some excellent detail there! We were given the figure of 20 Connemara’s taking part from Anthony McCormack, the owner of Ballyowen Maybelle Molly. In fact, since that post, he has told us that a German aquaintance of his at the Competitions revised the figure upwards. It is most likely that many of these would not be fully registered Connemara’s, bought and transported merely on their performance strengths. Anthony has returned to Chad (where he is part of the Irish Peacekeeping force) but we will try and add to your list and see if we can’t put a final figure on it!
