We have learned of Mary Mitchell’s great success at the Dressage Ireland National Championships which were held at the Cavan Equestrian Center grounds in Latt, Co. Cavan from Sept 25th – 27th last.
She rode her own 7 y.o. stallion Creemully Western Melody (S-1190 I Love You Melody X Creemully Heather) in the Novice and Elementary rounds. Described as “wonderful” by Mary, Cremully Western Melody came home as the victor of the Abbeyleix Owen Perpetual Trophy – the All Ireland Dressage trophy for Connemara Ponies.
This pony is a fine example of the adaptability of the breed, having proven himself not only in dressage, but also as a Show Jumper and as a Working Hunter. Only last week, the Irish Field mentioned how he “is proving very a versatile pony as he has also jumped to Grade A under SJAI rules”. We wish them both a very hearty congratulations and wish them every success in the future.
For those who may be interested in seeing more of the results of the National Campionships, our own site, alas, cannot do proper justice to Dressage results – and particularly so many! They are thankfully available at Dressage Ireland’s own website here.
