Drawing (by Gisela Holstein), on offer to the first 50 entries to the show.
Organised by Michaela And Joanna Butler as a way to promote our native pony, the Kill Eq. Center Performance Show (Saturday 16th July) is a new arrival to the show circuit this year. It will be the third such performance biased show organised for the eastern seaboard counties since last year – proving the pony’s huge popularity even in these economically straitened times, and providing yet more opportunities for breeders to showcase those ponies they feel can really do the business. Looking to give this new event a heightened Sales dimension, organisers are offering packages that provide prospective buyers from home or abroad with accommodation, show tickets, and trips to stud farms.
The classes on offer include working hunter, performance hunter, flat ridden classes (including a side-saddle class), and also in-hand classes. The In-hand ponies are being judged on their potential of becoming a top performance pony or their potential of producing one. The feature class of the day is the six bar competition which is a ‘winner-takes-all’ affair, with a handsome prize fund.
The performance jumping classes will be judged similarly to the classes in the RDS Dublin Horse Show. A pony’s routine will include the walk, trot, canter and halt on each rein. They will then go onto jump the course of fences, before finishing with the confirmation judge. The flat ridden ponies will be judged on how they perform under their own rider before being ridden by a judge looking as always for good conformation, movement and temperament. There will also be an In-hand Stallion display to give owners and breeders further opportunity to promote their stallions.
The show can be followed on facebook by going onto “Performance Connemara Pony Show in the East”
Also the first 50 entries received go into a draw to win a fabulous Charcoal drawing by Gisela Holstein.
