No Sooner Said…

In the Southwest of the country, this Summer has been the wettest on record. At Valencia Station rainfall records for the 3 months of Summer were beaten by some 160mm going back to 1860. The Sligo region also got a battering, with some 36mm of rain falling on the 31st of August alone.

No sooner than we posted about how miserable the weather has been however, and looks to continue being, than the boyos at the Long Range Weather Forecast for Ireland are foretelling an improvement for the rest of the month. After a few wet days to start off September the period from the 9th onwards is looking pretty promising. Apparently, it would not be a surprise to see 20c. or 21c. reached after the middle of the week. Elsewhere in Ireland it will remain dry for a good part of September and rainfall almost everywhere should be near to or below the normal value(!). If this is what happens when we dabble in meteorology, maybe we should boldly declare rain every week?
