The October Sales in Clifden and Maam Cross are over, with Ballinasloe still to come on Nov. 1st. Prices have been sobering, to say the least. Colt foals could be bought for €300 – €400 euros, while the fillies were going for a few hundred more, depending on quality and presentation. The only encouraging aspect is that, unlike other breeds, the Connemaras are selling.
I would certainly agree that while prices are low foals are still changing address. It was very obvious from day one that quality shone through with some foals achieving in excess of €2000. Carefull attention to the pairing of parents is now more important than ever as irregardless of recession proper and correct ponies will achieve the more attractive return for your time and money spent.
