Ireland re-affirmed its place in the top strata of International Show Jumping with a convincing team performace at the Bonneau International Poney at Fontainebleau over the weekend. In the course of three days and eighteen classes, the Irish team secured for themselves ten firsts – including the Derby, the Nation’s Cup, and the CSIOP Grand Prix – seven seconds, and nine thirds. That’s just shy of half of every possible podium place on offer.

We, of course, were on the look-out for successful outings from Connemara ponies and were not dissapointed. The half-bred Garryndruig Gold Digger was ridden to victory in the CSIP 1.5 Prix on Friday. On Saturday, Woodfield Rinrush took first place in the 7 y.o. class. Sunday saw Silver Shadow in second place in the CSPI Grand Prix, and third place in the 6 y.o. class was seized by Manninard Seabird.

Fontainebleau was the first stage of the EYCUP PONY CHALLENGE, a European circuit for show jumping ponies. Five classes were counted towards this ranking. The official provisional rankings will be published on today (Monday 19th April) on eycup.eu. The next leg will be in Lamprechthausen (AUT) from 21 to 24 May. All told, there were seven nations participating this time out: Belgium, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Sweden and France. The full results of all classes were as follows:
