Taispeántas Chois Fharraige 2010

Although blessed by location – overlooking Galway Bay with beautiful views of the Burren in the distance – Taispeántas Chois Fharraige was not blessed with the kindest weather yesterday as the long-threatened rain finally arrived mid-day and persisted until the final class. Nobody complained however, as the show attracted its usual high standard of pony, and generally well-filled classes. This show is organised mainly tré ghaeilge and is the local show for breeders from the south coast, its confined section catering for ponies from between Barna and Costello Bridge. Ponies come from all over however, as is evidenced by the fact that the Junior and Supreme Championships both went to Co. Mayo breeders, in the form of Sean Burke (Rathlacken Cascade) from Ballina, and Joanne Grogan (Mountain Cascade) from Claremorris.

For many breeders it is the last show of the year as schools and colleges re-open and ponies don their winter coats. Once again, with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, it was a great success. Cógháirdeachas leis an gcoiste eagraithe.
