The ‘Celebration of the Connemara Pony’ Show will be held for the first time on the 9th July on the expansive grounds of Dartfield, Kilreekil.

Entries: €10 per class. Closing date: 25th June. Late entries: €15 per class.
Starting Time: 10am.

  • CLEAR ROUND JUMPING. 60cm, and upwards. Entries on the field.
  • DRESSAGE. Introductory, Preliminary, Novice and Elementary.
  • RIDDEN CLASSES.
    • Rider under 16yrs.
    • Rider over 16yrs.
    • Ridden Stallion.
    • Ridden 4 and 5yr old.
    • Side saddle.
    • Lead rein.
    • Veteran class. For ponies over 20yrs.
    • Veteran class. For adults over 40yrs.
  • WORKING HUNTER CLASSES.
    • Rider under 16yrs.
    • Rider over 16yrs.
    • Starter stakes.
  • FANCY DRESS CLASS.
  • DRIVING CLINIC with Paddy Hanley.

Green Hunter

Irish Connemara Green Hunter

Open to 4yr.old Registered Connemara Ponies (Riders over 14yrs on 1st January).

  • PHASE 1.
    • Ponies will be required to jump a course of 8 fences, (including a double), over a maximum height of 80cms.
  • PHASE 2.
    • RIDE AND CONFORMATION. The ponies will walk, trot, and canter as a group, then line up. The Judge will then ride each pony at a walk, trot, canter and, (at the judge’s discretion) extended canter. The pony will then be stripped, and shown in hand.

Bits: Simple snaffles (as per IPS rules) excluding Unjointed snaffle.
Saddlery: No change of saddlery is allowed during competition with the exception of overreach boots and / or tendon boots, which may be used for Phase 1 only.
Bandages are not allowed.
Spurs are not allowed.
Whips not to exceed 75cms.
Running martingales only are permitted, but judges should pay particular attention to their effectiveness.
Any suitable noseband is acceptable.

The course may be inspected mounted. No animals are allowed to practise over any part of the Course before the commencement of the class, as this will lead to immediate elimination.

There are two qualifiers. The Connemara Pony World show at Boswell on 4th June, and Corrundulla show 26th June. Five ponies may qualify from each show.

The Final will be held in the Main Arena at Clifden on Wed 17th August, the day before Clifden show.
