Willie Diamond
At Ashbrook Stud, we join with pony people all over the world in mourning the loss of Willie Diamond. Willie was a stalwart pony man throughout his life. He was also a passionate supporter of Galway GAA teams in both codes, and travelled all over the country to support them until recent years. He will be remembered for breeding Queen of Diamonds, the dam of Abbeyleix Owen, and most of all for winning the 1971 Clifden Championship with the stallion Kimble. He served on the council for many years, including a term as vice-president. Willie was one of the genuine greats of the Connemara Pony world and will be sadly missed.
